Plan on about 0.5% of your Instagram followers becoming paying subscribers from a link in bio alone, and up to 1% to 2% if you actively promote and follow up. At $9.99 a month, 10,000 followers at 0.5% is 50 fans and $499.50 a month before fees, or $399.60 after OnlyFans’ 20% fee. The often quoted “1 to 1.5%” conversion rate has no source we could find, and subscriptions are only about a quarter of what fans spend.

This page is the plan and the numbers. For the step by step setup (bio, first posts, launch week), read how to turn Instagram followers into paying fans.

What conversion rate to plan for

“1 to 1.5% of your followers will subscribe” appears on many agency pages, often credited to OnlyFans. We could not find an original source for it. The most detailed public figures come from Inrō, a company that sells Instagram DM tools: below 0.5% is “the passive-bio-link band”, 0.5% to 2% means “your funnel is partly working”, and above 3% means the funnel works. Inrō itself calls these “a practical diagnostic drawn from what we see rather than a published industry benchmark” (July 2026). Treat them as vendor estimates.

So for planning: assume 0.5% if all you do is post a link, and count anything higher as the result of work, not a given. Also note that conversion falls as an account grows, because larger audiences include more casual followers.

Followers to monthly income at $9.99

Subscriptions only, one month, before payment processing quirks, refunds and taxes. OnlyFans keeps 20% of every fan payment under its terms; HerFans keeps a flat 20%.

Followers × rate Paying fans Fans pay (fans × $9.99) You keep on OnlyFans (80%) You keep on HerFans (80%)
10,000 × 0.5%50$499.50$399.60$399.60
10,000 × 1%100$999.00$799.20$799.20
10,000 × 2%200$1,998.00$1,598.40$1,598.40
50,000 × 0.5%250$2,497.50$1,998.00$1,998.00
50,000 × 1%500$4,995.00$3,996.00$3,996.00
50,000 × 2%1,000$9,990.00$7,992.00$7,992.00

How each row is worked out: paying fans = followers × rate (10,000 × 0.005 = 50); fans pay = paying fans × $9.99 (50 × $9.99 = $499.50); OnlyFans column = fans pay × 0.80 ($499.50 × 0.80 = $399.60). These are scenarios, not predictions. Subscribers also cancel, so holding a number month to month takes new posts and new fans. For any other price or follower count, use our earnings calculator.

Where the money actually comes from

The table counts subscriptions only, which understates how fan pages earn. OnlyFans’ FY2025 filings, as summarized by onlyfansstatistics.com, show pay-per-view, tips and messages at about $1.13 billion, around 73% of its revenue, with subscriptions at about 27%. Across the whole platform, fans spent roughly $2.70 on other things for every $1 of subscriptions (73 ÷ 27 ≈ 2.7). That is an average across millions of accounts weighted toward top earners, not a forecast for a new page. The point is where to put your effort: welcome messages, paid messages, pay-per-view posts and agreed custom requests.

How to start in three steps

1

Create your free page

Sign up in seconds with email, pick a creator name, and set up your profile. No upfront cost.

2

Add your content

Upload photos and videos, set a monthly subscription price, and lock premium posts behind pay-per-view.

3

Get paid

Fans subscribe, tip and unlock your content. You ask for a payout from your dashboard once your available balance reaches the published minimum. Each sale is pending for 30 days, the period in which refunds and most card disputes arrive, and 10% of it is held as a reserve until day 120. For a sale paid by card, the reserve is held longer, up to day 206, because our card processor keeps its own reserve on that payment for 26 weeks and it is released to you once it has been returned to us.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Instagram to OnlyFans conversion rate?
There is no published benchmark. Plan on about 0.5% of followers from a link in bio alone. Inrō, which sells DM tools, describes 0.5% to 2% as a partly working funnel and above 3% as a working one, and calls these observations, not a benchmark.
Is the 1 to 1.5% conversion rate real?
We could not find an original source for it. It is repeated on agency pages and often credited to OnlyFans, but no OnlyFans page we could find publishes it.
How much can 10,000 Instagram followers make on OnlyFans?
At $9.99 a month, 0.5% conversion is 50 fans and $499.50 a month before fees, or $399.60 after the 20% fee. At 2% it is 200 fans, $1,998 before fees and $1,598.40 after. Results vary widely.
Does OnlyFans take 20%?
Yes. OnlyFans’ terms say its fee is 20% of the total fan payment, deducted from each payment.
Can I keep my Instagram after starting a fan page?
Yes. Keep Instagram within Meta’s guidelines, use one neutral link in bio, and never offer explicit content or sex chats on Instagram, including in DMs.
Do I need to tell brands I work with?
Check your contracts first. Brand and agency agreements can include morality or exclusivity clauses, and that is easier to sort out before you launch.
