In your first 30 days as a creator, decide your content line and privacy first, pass identity verification, add a payout account in your own name, set up your page (bio, price, a few free posts), publish your first 10 posts, promote within each platform’s rules, send a welcome message to every subscriber, sell your first pay-per-view, and set money aside for taxes from the first sale. Expect a slow start: an estimated median OnlyFans creator account earns about $180 a year, so most beginners earn far less than headlines suggest.

That median is a panel-derived estimate from onlyfansstatistics.com (September 2026). Creators who answered the SWR Data survey (autumn 2025, a self-reported, non random sample) reported about $16,000 on average in their first year. See what beginners earn for why these numbers conflict.

Week 1: decide before you post

Week 1: identity verification

Every legitimate platform checks that creators are adults before they publish or get paid. On HerFans you take photos of a government issued ID (front and back) and do a live camera check in the same session on your own phone. An automated check reads the material and writes what it found, but it approves nothing; every submission is decided by a person. Your profile is not visible to the public until your identity is approved. Details in creator age and ID verification and our age verification policy. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Week 1: payout account in your own name

Payouts on HerFans go only to an IBAN or a PayPal account in your own name. Never use a partner’s, parent’s or manager’s account. See why the account must be yours.

Week 2: set up the page

Week 2: your first 10 posts

Posts What Why
1 to 3Free intro posts, one pinnedShows visitors what they get
4 to 8Subscriber posts in your nicheA first subscriber has something to scroll
9 to 10A poll and a behind the scenes postStarts conversations

Every upload on HerFans is checked before anyone can see it. Ideas in what to post as a beginner.

Week 3: first promotion, within the rules

Meta limits “usernames, links to or logos of Adult Subscription Websites” to adults 18 and over and removes offers of nude imagery and sexual chats, including in DMs (Meta, last updated 14 May 2025). TikTok does not allow “Facilitating access to sexual services” (Community Guidelines, effective 24 September 2026). Keep public posts safe for work, use a neutral link in bio, and never hide or redirect links: Meta’s spam policy prohibits cloaking. Use tracked links to see which place brings paying fans. See promoting without getting banned and moving from Instagram.

Week 3: welcome message and first PPV

Send each new subscriber a short personal hello and one question. Then post a first pay-per-view priced as an easy yes. One vendor guide suggests new pages price 20% to 40% below established rates for the first four weeks (Outseeker, 2026, an estimate). See the welcome message, pay-per-view and what sells first.

Week 4: first payout

On HerFans each sale is pending for 30 days (refunds and most card disputes arrive in that window) and part is held as a reserve for a while. Once your identity is approved and your available balance reaches $10, request a payout from the dashboard; it is paid within 3 business days.

From day one: taxes

In the US, the IRS says you must file a return if “your net earnings from self-employment were $400 or more”, and self-employed people generally pay estimated taxes quarterly (IRS Self-Employed Individuals Tax Center, last reviewed 27 September 2026). Save part of every payout and keep records. Read taxes in your first year.

How to start in three steps

1

Create your free page

Sign up in seconds with email, pick a creator name, and set up your profile. No upfront cost.

2

Add your content

Upload photos and videos, set a monthly subscription price, and lock premium posts behind pay-per-view.

3

Get paid

Fans subscribe, tip and unlock your content. You ask for a payout from your dashboard once your available balance reaches the published minimum. Each sale is pending for 30 days, the period in which refunds and most card disputes arrive, and 10% of it is held as a reserve until day 120. For a sale paid by card, the reserve is held longer, up to day 206, because our card processor keeps its own reserve on that payment for 26 weeks and it is released to you once it has been returned to us.
