Yes, you need a payout account in your own name: creator platforms pay earnings only to the person whose identity they verified. HerFans pays to an IBAN or a PayPal account in the creator’s own name, Fansly asks for a verified bank account or approved payment method plus tax forms, and Fanvue lets only the creator herself, not agencies or managers, add or change payout methods. A parent’s, partner’s or friend’s account is refused.
This page explains the rule and the reasons for it, and what to do if you do not have an account yet. For platform specific setup, read choosing a bank account for OnlyFans and getting paid without a bank account.
| Platform | Payout rule | Source |
|---|---|---|
| OnlyFans | To open a creator account: “Add a bank account, payment details for your bank account, or a payment method” and select a payout option, after ID verification | Terms of Service, updated August 2024 |
| Fansly | “A verified bank account (checking or savings) or other approved payment method” and legal information such as a W-9 in the US | Terms of Service, read 2 October 2026 |
| Fanvue | Only the creator, “not agencies or managers on your account”, can add, change or remove payout methods; new methods pass a security check of up to 24 hours | Help Centre, read 2 October 2026 |
| HerFans | IBAN or PayPal account in the creator’s own name, once identity is approved | HerFans payout rules |
OnlyFans’ terms do not spell out the words “in your own name”, but the payout is tied to the verified creator account, and creator guides widely report that a mismatched name blocks payouts. Treat a matching name as required.
Do not borrow an account “just until yours is open”. A payout to a mismatched account is usually blocked or reversed, and it can put your creator account under review.
A separate account for creator income makes bookkeeping and tax time much easier: every payout and every business expense in one place. Accounting for content creators covers simple bookkeeping.
Payouts are on request from the dashboard, once identity is approved, from a $10 balance, to an IBAN or a PayPal account in the creator’s own name. Each sale is pending for 30 days, because refunds and most card disputes arrive in that window, and part is held as a reserve for a while. Available earnings are paid within 3 business days of the request.
Just starting? The rules at 18 are on can you start an OnlyFans at 18, the wider picture on minimum age to sell photos online and the first time creator guide. HerFans is for women creators 18 and over. Create your free page, or read more for creators.

Fans subscribe, tip and unlock your content. You ask for a payout from your dashboard once your available balance reaches the published minimum. Each sale is pending for 30 days, the period in which refunds and most card disputes arrive, and 10% of it is held as a reserve until day 120. For a sale paid by card, the reserve is held longer, up to day 206, because our card processor keeps its own reserve on that payment for 26 weeks and it is released to you once it has been returned to us.
