Yes, with conditions. These are the rules that apply to a new creator account, quoted from the terms, and the parts people tend to skip: payouts, taxes, contracts and privacy.

Yes, you can open an OnlyFans creator account at 18: its Terms of Service require you to be “at least 18 years old” and “able to be legally bound by a contract with us”, and to upload a valid ID and two photos of yourself before the account is approved. Where the local age of majority is higher than 18, such as 19 in Alabama and Nebraska, that second condition can mean waiting. Fansly says it outright: 18 and the age of majority where you live.
This page sets out the rules, not a recommendation. A creator page has long term consequences for privacy, money and your name online, and the decision is yours alone. Nothing here is legal advice; when in doubt, read the full terms or ask a lawyer where you live.
The pattern is the same everywhere: 18 is the floor, and local law can raise it. Alabama sets the age of majority at 19 (Code of Alabama 26-1-1) and Nebraska declares “All persons under nineteen years of age” to be minors (Nebraska Revised Statutes 43-2101). A side by side table is on creator platform age requirements.
To open a creator account, OnlyFans’ terms require you to “Upload a valid form of ID and two photos of you”, choose a payout option, provide a UK VAT number if you are VAT registered, and “Submit additional age or identity verification information any time we ask for it”. The ID must be current and readable, and the name on it is the name the platform will expect everywhere else.
We do not repeat the OnlyFans step by step here: how to get verified on OnlyFans covers the documents and the usual rejection reasons. How verification works in general, including what happens to your data, is on creator age and ID verification.
OnlyFans’ terms list adding “a bank account, payment details for your bank account, or a payment method” as part of opening a creator account. Fansly asks for “a verified bank account (checking or savings) or other approved payment method” and tax details such as a W-9 in the US. Fanvue’s help centre says only the creator, “not agencies or managers on your account”, can add, change or remove payout methods. In practice that means an account in your own name, not a parent’s, partner’s or manager’s. The reasons, and what to do if you do not have an account yet, are on do you need your own bank account as a creator.
Creator income is self employment income. In the US, the IRS charges self employment tax of 15.3% once your net earnings from self employment reach $400 in a year. In the UK, the trading allowance covers up to £1,000 of gross trading income a year; above that you generally register for Self Assessment. Set money aside from the first payout. The full first year picture is on creator taxes in your first year, and the OnlyFans forms are on OnlyFans taxes.
New creators are often approached by agencies and “managers”. OnlyFans’ terms are clear about who carries the risk: “If you are a Creator and someone else assists you with the operation of your Creator account, this does not affect your legal responsibility.” Before signing anything, check:
Do not hand over your password or your payout details. On HerFans, a creator can give a manager or assistant their own login with limited rights instead of sharing her password, and payouts, identity, email and password stay hers only.
Anything posted can be copied. Decide how much of your face, voice, location and legal name you are comfortable with, and keep the creator page separate from your personal accounts. Read how to make an account anonymously, whether it shows up on a background check, and staying safe as a creator.
| Rule | What to check |
|---|---|
| Age | 18 and the age of majority where you live |
| Identity | A current government ID in your legal name, and photos of you |
| Payouts | A bank or payout account in the same name as the ID |
| Taxes | Registration and set aside money from the first sale |
| Contracts | No signing without reading; no shared passwords |
Still deciding? The first time creator guide and minimum age to sell photos online cover the wider picture. HerFans is for women creators 18 and over: identity is verified with a government ID and a live camera check before anyone publishes or is paid, and a person decides every submission. Fans subscribe, tip and unlock your content. You ask for a payout from your dashboard once your available balance reaches the published minimum. Each sale is pending for 30 days, the period in which refunds and most card disputes arrive, and 10% of it is held as a reserve until day 120. For a sale paid by card, the reserve is held longer, up to day 206, because our card processor keeps its own reserve on that payment for 26 weeks and it is released to you once it has been returned to us.
